I had the pleasure of getting to know a little bit about Megan Hart author of Deeper and The new Series Order of Solace. Also her upcoming book, No Reservations.
Tigris: Megan tell us a little bit about your self?
Megan: Hi, everyone...I'm Megan.
I write books. I've been writing books for a long time, having them published for not quite as long and hope to continue doing it for a long, long time.
If you've read my work, you've probably picked up one of my Spice books which are all erotic fiction. You might be a new reader whose read my historical fantasy romance from Berkley, or you could be an old reader who grabbed some of my previously published erotic romance from Amber Quill Press.
Or maybe you have no idea who I am, and you should probably get to the bookstore and find out!
Tigris: When you first read The Stand by Stephen King, what were your thoughts, Did you catch the movie? If so did you feel it was dead on or dead wrong?
Megan: I loved The Stand from page one. It was summer, I was twelve, it was probably the longest book I'd read at the time. I had a huge crush on the boy at the library and preferred short books so I could return them faster and see him more often.
I'm kidding. I only went once a week, on the days he worked. Even if I wasn't finished with the books.
Anyway, I took the book to the pool and read it, and just fell in love with it. I thought it was the best book, ever. It sort of solidified for me that people actually do this (writing books) for a living. And I could do it for a living!
The tv movie came out when I'd graduated from college and I was really excited to see it. It was a big deal back then in the olden days to watch something on TV because it didn't get re-run seventy million times, and nobody had on-demand. You actually had to record it on VCR tape, and mostly your roommate would do something like tape her soap operas over it, and then it caused trauma. So watching it when it aired was important and exciting, and from what I remember it was well done. I loved Gary Sinise as Stu and Rob Lowe as Nick (my favorite character) -- awesome!
Tigris: What girly thing can you not do with out?
Megan: Hmmm. A hot shower. Most everything else I can get by without.
Tigris: What are the ages of your children...er Monsters?
Megan: Twelve and nine.
Tigris: Favorite Authors?
Megan: Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Clive Barker, Jacqueline Carey, Gary Jennings
Tigris: Currently Reading?
Megan: Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey
Tigris: Currently Working on?
Megan: A book tentatively titled Three Months
Tigris: Whats in your Ipod?
Megan: Everything and then a little bit more
Tigris: What tracks were you listening to when you wrote the Women of the Order of Solace Series?
Megan:
Angel Sarah McLachlan
The Bleeding - Unplugged Five Finger Death Punch
Bleeding Love Leona Lewis
Blue Dress Depeche Mode
Breathe Me Sia
Dragonfly M. Craft
Écrire l'amour Étienne Drapeau
Gravity Sara Bareilles
Hanky Panky Madonna
Hide and Seek Imogen Heap
I Will Be Here Steven Curtis Chapman
Keep Breathing Ingrid Michaelson
Little Fox Berry, Heidi
Never Alone BarlowGirl
Parce Mihi Domine Jan Garbarek & The Hilliard Ensemble

Red Shoe Requiem (Original Score) George S. Clinton
Set the Fire to the Third Bar Snow Patrol & Martha Wainwright
Speeding Cars Imogen Heap

That's the playlist for Pleasure and Purpose. I have 132 songs on the playlist for the upcoming Selfish is the Heart.
Tigris: Alpha Male or Sensitve Male? Expalin?
Megan: Depends on the day. I'd say a combination of both.
Tigris: What's in your To Be Read Pile?
Megan: Literally too many to list.
Tigris: Do you work with any charitable organizations?
Megan: I donate to charities my family and I decide to support. I don't donate to charities that solicit me on the phone when I'm working. I don't usually donate to charities being supported by celebs, though I have given single donations.
Tigris: Favorite Erotic Desert? (oops) Dessert!
Megan: I'm going to assume you mean dessert since I wouldn't find the desert erotic. Too much sand. But erotic desserts I can totally get into. Actually, I can't. Food and sex sounds sexy but it's really just gross and messy and sticky and leads to extra laundry. I guess if you had a rubber sheet and some cheesecake I might dig that, but it would probably have to come with a Keanu-shaped spoon.
Tigris: Can you tell us what other book was Mary in from Tempted
Megan: Broken
Tigris: After writing Dirty (Elle and Dan's Story) Will we see more of them? The first book was very touching and it was a true experience reading from Elle's POV so many times I wanted to yell in the book and tell her to wake up! Dan's the Man!
Megan: At this time, Dan and Elle don't have a full novel to themselves beyond Dirty, but they do appear in Broken and Stranger, as well as the Spice Brief Reason Enough. I love Elle and Dan. I will probably write more stories with them appearing because I'd really like to get her to a good place. I don't feel her journey is finished.
Tigris: Your characters from Tempted, James, Mary, and Alex will we be hearing from the again?
Megan: Alex Kennedy becomes the hero of his own story (well, aren't we all) in my upcoming book, Naked. It comes out from Spice summer 2010 if all goes well. James and Ann appear briefly in it.
Tigris: What/Who is your muse?
Megan: Sometimes I like to call him Julian but mostly I don't have a muse.
Tigris: Favorite Music Genre?
Megan: Hmm. Alternative, I guess. Though apparently I have a thing for boys with guitars because someone else asked me to name my favorite artists and I named three boys who play guitar. They're who I listen to most often, according to the play count on my computer's iTunes.
Tigris: What was the worst and best part about your journey to becoming a published author?
Megan: Worst -- hmmm...hasn't been a worst
Best -- being published, having people read my books, getting paid to do work I love
Tigris: Any advice to aspiring authors?
Megan: Write. Keep writing. Don't talk about writing, actually sit down and write. Know your craft. (spelling, grammar, etc.) Pay attention. Find your voice.
Write, write, write and write some more. And then one more time.
Tigris: What book would you like to be made into a movie first? Or, would you rather come up with a screen write written specifically for you and Keanu?
Megan: I think Broken would be an interesting movie. I have an unpublished book called Beneath the Veil that I wrote with Keanu in mind as the hero. Three Months, the book I'm working on now, would also be a good movie, I think.
But sure, I'd like a movie written just for me and him. That would be good!
Tigris: If you could get a redo for some part of your life, what would that be?
Megan: Maybe when I was in college and worked at Cedar Point in Sandusky I'd have tried to stay up later since I missed a lot of employee activities because I was so tired all the time.
Tigris: Favorite Family activity?
Megan: Watching TV or playing games
Tigris: Favorite TV Show?/Movie?
Megan:
The Matrix
Harold and Maude
Love Actually
Dr. Who
Heroes
Supernatural
Nip/Tuck
Tigris: Your favorite app? Twitter, FaceBook, Myspace, or Youtube?
Megan: I guess Twitter because it's easy
Tigris: How do you come up with the characters for your books, when does your creativity attack you most?
Megan: It could strike at any random moment!
Tigris: Thanks again for allowing me to pick your thoughts
Megan: you're welcome.
