Anne Rice Post:

We all know Anne if not from Reading Interview with a Vampire then definitely from watching the movie that starred Brad Pit and Tom Cruise... I for one didn't care for the movie. I felt that Lestat was not captured appropriately by Tom Cruises portrayal or Brad's as Louis.  I did like Antonio Banderas as Armand... OOOH SPICY! However Robert Townsend and Aaliyah did an Excellent job in Queen of the Damned.  I don't know why Hollywood skipped Lestat's story all together because the story in itself was very interesting.

The Movie Queen of the Damned was not spot on... But it was still good just the same because the actors in the movie made the characters come to life for me... There were a few frustrations of mine.. I did not like the ending. Lestat does not end up with Jesse and so there is my spoiler for the book if you haven't read. Also they chose a horrible Louis he was too fluffy.

I have tons of Favorites in the Vampire Chronicles Series but I will just say that The Vampire Lestat was one favorite of mine as well as The Vampire Armand and Memnoch the Devil... All three books did it for me on a massive level.

Snippet from The Vampire Armand:

For long moments after the kill, sweet throbbing sensations passed through me as the warm fragrant blood found all the corners of my body, as it pumped its magnificent heat into my face.

This, and this alone, was enough to absorb me utterly, young as I was.

Sexy and Seductive just those few lines.

Snippet from Memnoch the Devil:

I saw her, smelled her, smelled the blood from between her legs again, saw her tender little face, white and stricken and on either side of her like goblins out of nursery rhymes and tales of hell, Armand and David, vampires, monsters, both staring at me in the same stark wonder.

Do you know what he does next to Dora? The Nun.. He drinks from between her legs...

Anne paints them in all their ugliness and wickedness as well as their goodness. These Vampires did not Sparkle, did not walk in the day time. They were the monsters under your bed, hiding in the alley ways ready to snatch you up and devour you alive.

Anne set the stage... There was Bram Stoker and then there was Anne Rice. How could you not love her writing and her work.

Other Series By Anne:

Mayfair Witches

New Tales of Vampire

Songs of the Seraphim

Vampire/Mayfair Cross Over

The Life of Christ

Hello, All.

I've been a big Anne Rice fan since 1981. I've read The Vampire Chronicles, The Mayfair Witches, and several stand alones and they were all superb. I haven't read the Vampire/Mayfair Crossover books, yet, and look forward in doing so.

I'm also interested in reading the Songs of the Seraphim series; it sounds quite interesting.

Please don't enter into the contest, I have all the books listed.

Besides seeing the movie - who hasn't - I have one of her books in my tbr pile - Lasher. I'm going to move it to the top of my pile. To be honest, I hadn't realized how many books she had written. I definitely need to add some of these to my tbb list!

I have read some of Anne's books. Loved the Mayfair witches. It's been 14 years since I read them. I have the sleeping beauty series but I haven't read them yet. I started reading the Vampires after the movie but it was during my reading slump of 13 years (terrible I know) so I never finished them. I may have to try them again.

I actually have about two of Rice's books in my To Be Read List. When I found them for a dollar I just picked them up. An Impulse buy. (Interview with a Vampire and The Vampire Lestat). Now I have read one of her sister's book Alice Borchardt.
