Touched by an Alien: My Journey Back to SCI-FI

Posted on December 28, 2010 at 8:38 PM

Review:

I don't know exactly where to begin, so I am going to try and make this review as wonderful as possible for you, because not only is this on my Top 5 Reads of 2010 the second book to the Katherine Kitty Katt series is on the Top 5 as well.. Doesn't leave room for much but the other three books will be discussed at a later date.

Okay so who is Gini Koch? DOOODE! She is the author of Touched by an Alien as well as Alien Tango and she is just an amazing... I repeat an amazing person.  I am so glad that Belinda told me about her... Because the woman put her foot all up in this book and then did a back flip with a twist! LOVED IT!  I will have two snippets that are very small ,but totally worth it!

So my journey begins way back in the days when I was just a little thing... I was your everyday average comic junkie slash Star Wars and Trek head. I mean when the Sci-Fi channel came out I think I just about threw a huge ass party and I invited like everyone in the hood to come by to watch DUNE with me... YUP DUNE love that movie. Yeah and I read the book, by Frank Herbet... So that was my love for all things Sci-Fi.. But somehow I lost my way, and thanks to Gini I'm BACK! Heeeeeerrrrrrreeeee's Tigris!

So I opened the pages and the first line I read was: "My first superbeing was an accident" then I was sucked into the story... You can tell a lot from a first sentence by the way, and just so you know I hate absolutely hate reading in first person! It drives me bonkers because I want to know all perspectives. But Gini pulled it off flawlessly! So for all you multiple POV'ers like me, I just have to say you will NOT be sorry! This is a journey you want to take in first person! TRUST!

Average everyday marketing manager meets A-C in Armani fabulous combination! Do not think MEN IN BLACK! This ain't it, far more superior than that! Don't get me wrong I loved the MIB but man this was just way cooler!  Kitty is smart and witty when it comes to all things! Except for family secrets and the obvious crush.

Kitty defends not only with her brain, but with her trusty purse, pen and hair spray. Who can compete with that!  And of course the A-C's have to have her, she was quick on her toes when she took out her first superbeing and with a pen no less.

I really enjoy the ride in the limo when Jeff tells Kitty her purse is like a black hole:

"I don't know how you found that pen; your purse is like a black hole."

"I prefer to think of it as Mary Poppins' carpetbag. Okay, okay," I added to the looks I was getting from both White and Gower. "Im Katherine Katt, k-a-t-t. and yes before you ask the obvious, my parents call me Kitty."

"I like it, " Martini said with a sly grin.

"What do your friends call you? " Gower asked.

I gave him a long look. "You're not my friends yet."

"Oh, lets call her Miss Kitty," Martini pleaded.

I wiped the slime on my pen off on his pants. "I'm not gracing that with a response."

"My God, I think I'm in love," Martini said with a laugh.

Jeff, Christopher, Gower, and even White are all A-C (Aliens from Alpha Centari)  BUT OMG They are hot aliens.. Yeah I know right who can get better than that? Well the answer is right between the pages of the book, because they are not only good to look at but they are smart and witty too. Reader is another character who isn't an A-C but a human like Kitty and the two of them instantly connect on familiar grounds. And yup he's hot too. but he's already been spoken for...

Even the women are gorgeous and Kitty calls them the dazzlers.  Another word that I have come to love is Fugly!  The entire story is just amazing. There are secrets between Kitty and her family and there are secrets between Jeff, Christopher and White that come to light.  Like Grandpa Fugly.... LOL There is death by hairspray, death by salt water, hell there is even a bit of death by heavy metal music, or was it confusion? Hmmm

Cage Match Christopher vs Martini

As the story unfolds you don't want to put the book down. I had to tear myself away and then found that I was waking up in the middle of the night just to get one more chapter in. It was that good!  There is a mini love triangle and when I say mini its a quick trip to the elevator when the first cage match begins. And what a ride that was!  The second cage match was just combustable I mean explosions of mass quantities took place in this one... Here I will even give you a taste of Cage Match: Part Duex

Martini pulled his head away as my scream subsided.

One hand was back to my head, his fingers wrapped in my hair, controlling my head's movements. The other he slid under my thigh, which caused him to go deeper inside me. I gave a strangled cry.

"Does it hurt?" he growled at me, his eyes burning.

"A....little..., but....oh God...."He stopped thrusting.

"Don't stop....please don't stop, Jeff, please."

Its a mini snippet...*shrugs* I never said I would give you the actual fight or the ending just a bit of the match.

Which brings me to one of my favorite lines in this entire cage match: Coherency gave up and went for a latte. (YEAHYA)

I loved that Gini show's the vulnerabilities of the characters, even though they are aliens, they are not perfect, and even though they have two hearts both races human and A-C alike have the same issues.

This is a must read! I swear every page is a good page! No BUNK that EVERY PAGE IS AN EPIC PAGE! You just have to.... have to read!

Gini will be on the blog on Jan 24th and 25 with a LIVE AUTHOR CHAT On Both Days! So get your questions ready! Even if you didn't read the series still come back and check it out! Its something you don't want to miss!

Wasn't a fam of sci-fi, but I'm in love with the series... I laughed, out loud! I've cried. I've had my heart broken and I've been turned on! It's 70+ chapters, but I didn't notice. Never wanted it to end! :)

This sounds, amazing, really amazing. I've only read a few Sci-Fi and I totally surprised myself because I didn't think I would like it, but I loved it. I feel like I had my eyes opened to another world I didn't know was out there. Can't wait to read these
